HENDERSON, Tenn. - What a difference a day makes. After dropping a hard fought battle with Bethel University Friday night, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team rebounded with an impressive 3-0 victory over Central Baptist College Saturday at the Brewer Sports Center. (25-19, 25-18, 25-16)

The Lady Lions (7-9, 3-3 AMC) jumped out to a comfortable 6-2 lead to start the match and would never trail, as they used a 5-0 run at the 11-5 mark to reach their largest lead of the set. FHU would not look back from there, as they continued to dominate the offensive possession to take a 25-19 first set.

The trend would continue in the second set, as the Lady Lions would continue to pile it on and jump out to a 14-5 lead midway through the second set, courtesy of a solid offensive attack, led by Senior Daymari Brito. Central Baptist (3-12, 1-5 AMC) contributed 18 points in the second set, but FHU comfortably managed the set 25-18 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set would be much of the same for the Lady Lions, despite Central Baptist keeping things closer than the first two sets in the match. The Mustangs never let the Lady Lions extend their lead to more than two points for a majority of the match; however, FHU would close the set with a 9-0 run to take a 25-16 third set victory for the match.

Alex Britt led the Lady Lions on the attack with 11 kills while Beth Maples and  Daymari Brito followed close behind with 10 kills and nine kills respectively. Lindsey Gordon dished out an impressive 34 assists in the match while Bailey Brown and Brito contributed 13 digs in the match.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 7-9 on the season and even up their conference record at 3-3. With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 3-12 on the season and 1-5 in American Midwest Conference play.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lady Lions will be back in action on Tuesday, October 11 for a tri-match at Cumberland University. FHU kicks things off with a 12:00 PM match-up with Asbury (Ky.) University followed by a match-up with Cumberland (Tenn.) University at 7:00 PM in Lebanon, Tenn.
