HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team suffered another loss Saturday to Missouri Baptist University, as the Spartans were able to rally late to pick up an 8-6 victory in 11 innings to complete the sweep of the Lions.

Despite the loss, the Lions received solid contribution from Darcy Moore, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Griffin Siebert also found success at the plate, as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI of his own to keep the Lions in the game down the stretch.

Darcy Moore would get things started for the Lions with a bang, as he connected on a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead.

Missouri Baptist; however, would close the gap in a hurry, as they pushed one across in the top of the fourth inning, as Culver Plant opened the inning with a double to right field and crossed the plate later in the inning off a sacrifice fly by Drew Kitson to deep centerfield to even things up at one apiece.

Aden Campbell would put the Lions back on top in the bottom of the fourth inning, as he opened the inning with a double to deep centerfield and scored later in the inning off a pair of singles by Collin McPherson and Darcy Moore to put FHU up 2-1.

However, similar to the other games in the series, the Spartans would rally late in the game to regain the lead, as they pushed three runs across in the top of the sixth inning and another in the eighth inning to pull ahead 5-2.

The Lions would respond with one run of their own in the bottom half of the eighth inning, as Bryce Lester opened the innings with a triple to deep centerfield and scored later in the inning on a fielder's choice to close the gap at the 5-3 mark.

FHU would take control in the bottom of the ninth, as Parks Flowers crossed the plate after pinch running for Aden Campbell and scoring off a base hit by Collin McPheron to pull the Lions within one run. Darcy Moore would even things up at five apiece in the next at bat with a double down the left field line to score McPherson and force extra innings for the second time in three games.

However, as they did in the nightcap Friday, the Spartans would rally late once again with three runs in the top of the 11th inning to take an 8-5 lead, which would be all they needed, as the Lions mustered just one run in the bottom half of the inning to suffer the 8-6 loss.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 20-16 on the season and 7-11 in conference play. The Spartans improve to 23-10 on the season and 15-5 in AMC play with the win.
