HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team cruised to their sixth straight win Thursday, as they picked up a sweep of Lyon College with a 4-2 victory in the opening game followed by a 12-3 pounding in the nightcap.

Makenzie Prince (8-2) continued her strong play in the circle in the opener, as she allowed just four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight.

Although FHU (18-7, 16-2 AMC) had trouble finding their bats in the early going, they were able to pound out six hits, courtesy of solid hitting in the middle of the lineup. Kaylyn Graham led the way for the Lady Lions, as she went 2-for-2 in the match-up, which included a triple and two RBI. Jenna Graham also found success at the plate in the opening game, as she went 1-for-2 with a double.

The Lady Lions took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, as Kaylyn Graham connected on a triple to deep center field to score Caitlyn Carter and put FHU up 1-0.

Lyon College (20-23, 8-12 AMC); however, would fight back in the top of the second inning and push one across to even things up at one apiece. Nicole Sanders got the inning started for the Scots with a walk in the leadoff spot and scored later in the inning off a wild pitch by Makenzie Prince to keep things tight.

The Scots would take their first lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning, as Cheyenne Black crossed the plate off a sacrifice fly by Kaitlyn Guevara to put Lyon College up 2-1.

The Lady Lions; however, would fight back in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs of their own, as Morgan Warren, Caitlyn Carter both crossed the plate off a misplayed grounder by Scots third baseman Cheyenne Herrera. Abbi Gooch also crossed the plate in the inning following a single to center field by Kaylyn Graham to give FHU a 4-2 lead, which would be just enough to secure the win.

The Lady Lions continued to roll in the nightcap, as 12 runs crossed the plate to give FHU a comfortable 12-3 win. FHU started the game hot and never looked back, as they pounded out 11 hits, led by Annaka Baxter who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

Mallory Spurlock (7-2) picked up the win in the nightcap after working four solid innings and allowing just six hits while striking out one. Hannah Wright worked the final inning for the Lady Lions and did not disappoint, as she struck out two of the four batters she faced while allowing just one hit in the 12-3 victory.

With the sweep, the Lady Lions improve to 18-7 on the season and 16-2 in conference play. Lyon College falls to 20-23 on the season and 8-12 in AMC play with the double header loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Saturday, April 15th, as they make the trip to Hannibal, Mo. to take on Hannibal-LaGrange University for a double header slated for 12:00 PM.
