HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team came up just short Monday, as they suffered a 3-2 loss to NCAA Division 2 Lane College at Carnes Field.

Despite the loss, the Lions (26-18) received solid contribution from several players not typically in the starting lineup, including Drake Walker, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a double while Cam Palmeter contributed FHU's lone RBI.

Jared Humphry (2-3) suffered the loss despite having a solid day on the mound, as he worked six innings and allowed just five hits while striking out eight. Collin Davis provided three solid innings of relief and allowed just one hit while striking out six.

Both teams needed just one inning to compile their runs, as Lane College (5-29) pounded out four hits and pushed across three runs in the top of the fifth inning while the Lions chipped in two of their own in the bottom half of the fifth.

Drake Walker scored the first run in the inning for the Lions following a wild pitch by Lane starting pitcher Patrick Wright while Cody McSwain pushed the other run across following an RBI single by Cam Palmeter to make the score 3-2.

However, despite out-hitting the Dragons 7-6 in the match-up, the Lions could not push any more runs across in the 3-2 loss. With the loss, the Lions fall to 26-18 on the season while Lane College moves to 5-29 on the season with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions will not get much of a break following the loss, as they are back in action Tuesday for a match-up on the road at Bethel University. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM in McKenzie, Tenn.
