FHU Soccer Camp set for June 18-22

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman University soccer programs have been hard at work preparing for their annual Soccer Camp set to take place June 18-22 at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

BOYS AND GIRLS BOARDING CAMP- JUNE 18-22

COST: Tuition for the camp is $225 per individual (boarding rate). This covers all meals, housing, facility use, instruction and insurance. For those who do not stay in university dormitories, the cost is $195 (commuter rate). Commuters will need to arrive by 9 a.m. each morning, and be picked up at 9:30 p.m. each night at the field. The team rate with twelve or more athletes attending the camp is $195 per player. The family rate with 2 or more athletes attending from the same household is also $195 per player. We do have day rates available for kids ages 10-14 who may not be able to handle the full day’s load of soccer. Contact Coach Elliott about this option as children can just attend some of the sessions and not all three each day.

WHAT TO BRING: Campers should come with plenty of practice attire, a good pair of cleats, bed linens and toiletries. Campers should also bring spending money for the concessions stand. A camp bank will be available at registration so campers will not have to carry money throughout the week and at the end of the week whatever is left will be reimbursed. The concessions stand will have sport drinks and snacks, and pizza and
sandwiches can be purchased from concessions each night.

CAMPERS RECEIVE: Each camper will receive an official camp ball, camp notebook, t-shirt, individual written evaluation and insurance coverage.

REGISTRATION: Campers will check in on June 18 between 5-7 p.m. Meals will start at breakfast on Monday morning. Check-out will follow the awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the last day of camp at the soccer field. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis until the camp is full. Camp will close after 175 spots have been taken and a waiting list will be formed at that time. Early registration is strongly encouraged and a $25 late registration fee will be charged for registration postmarked after June 12th. You may also register on our website for faster confirmation. Upon receiving your camp application, we will email you a detailed list of what to bring and the amount due at registration.

DESCRIPTION: Campers will learn the fundamentals of the game. Each camper will be challenged by the staff, the curriculum, fellow campers and by the game of soccer itself. Campers are divided by age groups and ability. To enhance the development of each player, the FHU soccer camp combines a strong emphasis on individual skill, along with advanced team tactics. Each morning, training will involve techniques of finishing, passing, dribbling and general ball control. The afternoon will focus on tactical development and field awareness, while the evenings are reserved for scrimmages in full 11 vs. 11 format. The boys and girls soccer camps are two separate camps. They will run separately during the same week and utilize different fields and coaches to maximize player development for these two unique camps.

REGISTRATION: 9:00 a.m., June 19 at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex. Pre-registration is encouraged. Cost is $60.

CHECK-OUT: 11:00 a.m., June 22 at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

DESCRIPTION: This is an abbreviated version of camp designed to get children interested in the world’s most popular sport. We will focus on basic soccer skills and knowledge of the game while emphasizing fun and getting involved. Our university players will assist so that each child
has someone close by. Each camper will receive a camp ball and t-shirt.
