Lions Basketball Adds Jalen Thompson to 2017-18 Recruiting Class

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team added another player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the signing of Jalen Thompson of Memphis, Tenn.

Thompson, a 6-0 guard, transfers to FHU from Salem International University in Salem, W. Va., where he averaged 9.4 points, 2.4 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game throughout his career with the Tigers.
Jim Sanderson, head coach for the Lion basketball program, said Thompson will add versatility to FHU's lineup as a result of his experience at the college level.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Jalen for the upcoming season," Sanderson said. "Thompson is a combo guard that will provide us with scoring capabilities and experience that our young team will need during the upcoming season."

Thompson is the son of Warren and Juliet Thompson. He is the eleventh player added to the Lions roster for the upcoming season. He joins Daniel Meis (Memphis, Tenn. /Memphis Nighthawks), Kortland Martin (Humboldt, Tenn. /Humboldt High School), Jonathan Leach (Houston, Texas/Texas Christian) Latrell Poitier (Freeport, Bahamas/St. Petersburg College), Shamir Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas/Roane State Community College), Jahmeel Watts (Hudson, N.C./Caldwell Community College), Jacob DeLauri (Austin, Texas/Rouse High School), Charles Boyle (Rossville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy), Tyler Johnson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills High School) and Grant Burns (Henderson, Tenn./Chester County High School) in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lion basketball program.
