FHU Golf In 1st Place Following Day One Of FHU Invite

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion and Lady Lion golf teams got off to a great start Monday at the annual FHU Golf Invitational, as both teams sit in first place heading into Tuesday's final round.

The Lions took a convincing nine stroke lead entering the final round after three golfers shot par or under to pull ahead of the field. Easton Lavelle paced the Lions after shooting a 3-under 69 and currently sits in first place on the leaderboard.

Lance Moore followed close behind with a 1-under 71 and is tied for 2nd while Hudson Huber shot an even par 72 and sits tied for 4th. Ben Burnette rounded out the scoring for the Lions with a 5-over 77 while Dalton Thomasson shot an 80. John Parigger shot a solid round for the FHU "B" team with a 4-over 76 finish.

The Lions currently sit in first place with a team score of 289, nine strokes ahead of Faulkner University who finished the day with a team score of 298.

The Lady Lions also got off to a great start and currently sit in first place with a team score of 319, two strokes ahead of Faulkner University who ended the day with a 321 team finish.

Fresh off her AMC Golfer of the Week nod, Chloe Kraus paced the Lady Lions with a round of 78 and currently sits in 2nd place overall behind Faulkner's Anna Reid who shot a 1-over 73.

Brittany Myers followed close behind with a round of 78 and is currently in 3rd place overall. Kayland Boling and Emily Whitnell rounded out the scoring for the Lady Lions with rounds of 79 and are currently tied for 5th.

Final round action at the FHU Golf Invitational concludes Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 AM.
