HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team suffered their third conference loss of the season Friday at the hands of William Woods University, as the Owls defeated the Lady Lions in straight sets at the Brewer Sports Center (23-25, 18-25, 11-25).

With the loss the Lady Lions fall to 4-9 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. William Woods University improves to 15-2 on the season and remains undefeated in conference play at 5-0.

"I wish we would have played a much better match tonight," said Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion Volleyball team. "I felt we matched up well with William Woods, but we were not able to execute. I was pleased with how hard our team worked tonight and feel we will continue to get better as the season goes on."

Despite the loss, the Lady Lions held their own in each of the three sets, as several players contributed solid minutes including Senior Alex Britt, who led FHU on the attack with seven kills. Shea Dean and Claire Walker followed close behind, as Dean ended the night with six kills while Walker had five kills. Lindsey Gordon dished out 23 assists while Sarah Denton countered WWU's attack with eight digs. Bojana Antunovic and Katie Collier played well on the front line, as each ended the night with three blocks apiece.

Rayleen Rivera led William Woods on the attack with 10 kills while Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 19 assists for the Owls in the win. Jessica Jensen countered FHU's attack well with 14 defensive digs. The Owls accumulated 39 kills and hit .256 in the match compared to the Lady Lions who hit just .010 in the match with 24 kills.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions will not get much of a break following Friday's loss, as they are right back at it Saturday for a match-up with No. 4 Park University. Match time is slated for 1:00 PM at the Brewer Sports Center.
