FHU Cross Country Teams Finish Strong In Greater Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Freed-Hardeman Cross Country teams hit the road this weekend to compete in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic, an event that saw Tyler Alverson finish among the top runners in his division along with several FHU runners setting personal records.

Alverson finished 8th overall in the field of 304 runners with a time of 26:11. He was the second NAIA runner to cross the finish line in the silver race. His time of 26:11 was a new personal record as well as a new FHU program record.

Sophomore Sam Elliott also set a personal record in Saturday's race along with a slew of freshmen including Tristan RayDrew McCollumJosh DykesJared Martin and Andy Gibson. Saturday's race marked just the second 8K race for the freshmen competing on the men's team.
 
Tyler Alverson paced the  Lions with his 8th place finish followed by Freshman Tristan Ray, who finished in 109th overall with a time of 28:52. Blaine McKinney rounded out the top three for the Lions with a time of 28:56. Once again, the numbers two through eight runners for the Lions finished close together with just 1:12 separating their times.

On the women's side, Tori Murray led the way and finished with a time of 23:12. Madelyn Miskelly and  Brooke Simpson rounded out the top three for the Lady Lions, as Miskelly finished with a time of 23:38 while Simpson crossed the finish line with a time of 24:23.

UP NEXT: The FHU Cross Country teams are back in action Saturday, October 14th, as they compete in the Principia College Cowbell Classic. The men's 8K race is slated for 11:00 AM followed by the women's 6K race at 12:00 PM in Elsah, Ill.
