Tresa Carter enters her ninth year as sponsor for the Cheerleading team at Freed-Hardeman University. A native of the western Kentucky area, Carter graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition with a minor in Business Management. Following graduation, Carter worked 16 years in the medical industry.

Following her time in the medical industry, she and her husband served as caretakers for Short Mountain Bible Camp in Woodbury, Tenn. for five years and more recently served as house parents for the West Tennessee Children's Home prior to landing at FHU.

Carter said that working directly with students is the highlight of her job at FHU.

 "What I enjoy most about my job here at FHU is working with the student athletes," she said. "I have the opportunity to work with 180 amazing young people; encouraging, strengthening, and guiding them through this chapter in their lives."

In addition to her responsibilities as cheer sponsor, Carter is employed full-time an an Administrative Assistant in the Athletic office. Her responsibilities include assisting the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer in the day to day aspects of their job.

Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 91:11-12- "For He shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your feet against a stone."
