Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion head coach Todd Humphry enters his 18th season with the Lady Lion Softball program, having rebuilt the program from scratch since his arrival in 2000.  He won his 300th game in 2014, making him the only coach in Freed-Hardeman history with 300 wins in two sports (softball and volleyball).

This past season, Freed-Hardeman had an incredible year, posting a 24-14 record, which included an impressive 19-5 record in the American Midwest Conference. The Lady Lions concluded the 2017 season with a trip to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round in Bowling Green, Ky.

During the 2016 season, Freed-Hardeman went 27-20 and 15-9 in conference play and advanced to the conference tournament quarterfinals before being defeated.

In 2014, the program’s first year in the American Midwest Conference, Freed-Hardeman went 17-5 in conference play and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals.  Four players were named to the all-conference squads.

In 2013, the Lady Lions put together the most successful season in school history, going 32-9 and winning the TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament championships.  In addition to those first conference titles, FHU advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time ever.

After leading a young squad to a third-place finish in the TranSouth Conference in 2011, the Lady Lions continued their trend of improvement winning 29 games and finishing runner-up in the conference tournament.  FHU won 12 of its last 17 games to close the season and set a program record for the most runs scored in a season.

In a three-season stretch from 2007 through 2009, FHU went 96-41 with two appearances in the Region XI Tournament and a runner-up finish in the TranSouth Conference Tournament.  Since 2005, the Lady Lions are 258-191 under Humphry's leadership.

In addition to directing the team's successes on the field, Humphry has also overseen several upgrades to the program's facilities including the construction of a press box and in-ground dugouts.

Humphry started coaching softball at Harding Academy in Memphis, Tenn., in 1992, where he helped to build and develop what was then a young program.  He is also the head volleyball coach at FHU where his team has won back-to-back-to-back TranSouth Conference regular season titles in addition to conference tournament championships in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

A 1989 graduate of Harding (Ark.) University, Humphry played on the Bison baseball squad for two seasons.  He and his wife, Susan, have three children: Emily, Jared and Allie.
