SCOUTING THE TROJANSThe Trojans enter tonight's contest with an overall record of 10-10 and a conference mark of 4-3, but they are a much more dangerous team than their record might indicate. Trevecca's last three losses have come by a combined total of five points.
TNU is one of the nation's best shooting teams, ranking third in the NAIA in team field goal percentage (51.3 percent) and 10th in team 3-point percentage (38.9 percent). The team is led by senior Brian Oduor, who is one of the top players in the conference as evidenced by his 22.3 point-per-game average.
Oduor's inside presence opens up the outside for players like Christopher Harris and Matthew Elliott, both of whom shoot better than 42 percent from 3-point range. Matthew Smigielski, a transfer from NCAA D-I High Point, became eligible at semester and gives the team yet another long-range option.
The Trojans have struggled on the boards some this year with a smaller lineup, being out-rebounded by opponents in 14 of their 20 games this season.
LION LOWDOWN- Same spot: The Lions remained at No. 20 in the NAIA national ratings released on Monday, tied for the spot with LSU-Shreveport. Two other TranSouth Conference teams are in the top 10: Union at No. 9 and Cumberland at No. 7.
- Eight straight: FHU has won eight games in a row dating back to Dec. 12, 2008. During the winning streak, the Lions are averaging 82.9 points per game while allowing opponents an average of only 64.4 points per contest. It is the program's longest winning streak since 2002-03.
- Stepping it up: The Lions' top four scorers this season have all averaged more points in conference play than in non-conference play. Senior Kristoffer Smith has the largest difference, scoring 3.6 points per game more in conference games.
- Hot hand: Junior Zack Frey is shooting 66.2 percent (43-of-65) from the floor in his last six games while averaging 17.0 points per game during that stretch.
