SOCCER MATCHDAY: Bryan at FHU

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions will look to run their unbeaten streak to four, but will have a tough test in doing so as Bryan (Tenn.) College visits the Josh Riley Soccer Complex tonight at 5:00 PM.

The Lions (3-0) have won all three of their matches fairly comfortably, but Bryan is likely to provide their stiffest competition to date.

Bryan (3-1-1) is coming off two matches against two top sides, falling at No. 3 Lindsey Wilson, 2-0, and battling back to draw former NAIA power and NCAA Division II member Lee (Tenn.) University, 2-2. The Lions scored two goals in the last 10 minutes of regulation to force extra time against Lee.

The Bryan offense runs through senior forward Daniel Branley, who has played a factor in five of the team's seven goals this season (2 goals, 3 assists). Joel Glover and Gustavo Angel Tamayo, along with Branley, take the majority of the team's shots as they have combined for 50 of Bryan's 76 attempts.

Freed-Hardeman has created opportunities with crisp passing, helping six different players find the back of the net. Tristan Quadrini leads the team with three goals while Alex Meany and George Achard each have two. FHU has also been accurate with its shooting, placing 31 of 51 shots on frame thus far this year.

Goalkeepers Zach Johnson and Duncan Black are likely to split time in goal again. The two have combined for a goals allowed average of 0.67.

LION TO WATCH: Christian Falk (Jr.; DEF; Magdeburg, Germany)
With Bryan known for making runs down his side, Falk's performance at left back will be key tonight for the Lions on defense. A three-year starter, he has been an integral part of an FHU defense that has allowed very few scoring opportunities in the last two seasons.

NOTES: The Lions' streak of scoreless minutes ended on Saturday when St. Louis College of Pharmacy converted a penatly kick in the 60th minute. FHU had gone 235 minutes without allowing a goal...FHU last faced Bryan on Oct. 15, 2011. Bryan won that match, 3-2, on two goals in the final six minutes...Alex Meany scored twice in FHU's win over STLCOP for his first collegiate goals. He also had an assist...Stefano Basso set a new program record with three assists in Saturday's win.
