HENDERSON, Tenn. -The Freed-Hardeman Lion soccer team will continue their road schedule Tuesday as they travel to Walnut Ridge, Ark. to take on Williams Baptist (Ark.) in a 3:00 PM match up.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Lions (5-4-1, 3-2-1) are coming off a scoreless tie over the weekend against William Woods (Mo.) University (7-4-2, 3-2-2).

The Lions attempted five shots on goal in the match, but were unable to capitalize on their offensive possessions. FHU matched up evenly with William Woods in total offense as the Lions attempted 14 total shots, five of which were on goal, compared to the 13 shots for the Owls, with five of their shots being on goal. Jermaine Steele led the Lions in total offense with six shots, two of which were on goal.

Williams Baptist College (4-5-1, 1-4-1) is coming off a 1-1 draw against Central Baptist (Ark.) College on Tuesday, October 6.

Williams Baptist struck first in the match with a goal by Thiago Sooma in the second minute off an assist by Yuri Leite. Central Baptist responded to the scoring drive in the 39th minute with goal by Jarrel Grimes, which evened up the match at one apiece. Matheus Allonso led Williams Baptist in total offense with four shots, all of them being on goal.

LAST TIME THEY MET

The Lions hosted Williams Baptist last season on September 23 at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex, where they were shutout 0-1 to hand FHU their second loss of the season and second loss in conference play.

Eagle midfielder Matheus Allonso scored the lone goal in the match near the end of regulation after collecting a loose ball in the box and firing in a shot in the 82nd minute to break the scoreless tie.

The match was evenly-played as both teams traded possessions multiple times throughout regulation. Although FHU had some quality looks on goal, especially in the second half, they would be unable to convert and would drop their second loss of the season. The Lions held a 14-12 edge in shots in the match, although Williams Baptist placed six on frame compared to the five for FHU.

The Lions will look to have a better result this season as they travel to Walnut Ridge, Ark. to take on Williams Baptist in a 3:00 PM match.
