HENDERSON, Tenn. - Despite the Freed-Hardeman Lion Soccer team trailing by just one goal a majority of the afternoon, a late scoring flurry by Brescia University sent the Lions home with a 5-0 loss at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

The first goal for the Bearcats came in the second minute of the game, as Milton Garcia caught the FHU defense off guard to break the ice for Brescia. However, from there, the Lions kept Brescia scoreless for the remainder of the half to keep a comeback within striking distance.

The Lions (2-2) did their best to forge a comeback, as they attempted nine shots and seven shots on goal in the match. However, Brescia keeper Jacob Stanley did not budge, as he saved seven shots in the win.

The remainder of the scoring for the Bearcats came in the final 10 minutes of the match, as Kerby Edme and Marin Murillo combined for two goals apiece to make a comeback unlikely for FHU.

Despite the loss, the Lions received solid contribution from Clay Lindsay and Carter Chandler, who each attempted two shots on goal in the match. FHU keeper Calum Langdale saved six shots in the match, despite giving up four late goals near the end of regulation.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-2 on the season. Brescia University moves to 2-3 on the season with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Tuesday, September 11th, as they open conference play on the road at Harris-Stowe State University. The Lady Lions kick things off first at 1:00 PM followed by the men's match at 3:00 PM in St. Louis, Mo.
