HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lion's soccer team (5-6-2, 2-4-2 AMC) needed a second-half equalizer by Gabriel Carvalho to tie Williams Baptist (8-2-4, 5-1-3 AMC) 2-2 in double overtime on Tuesday night.
It started in the first half when the Lions drew a foul and the AMC's leading scorer Daniel Peinado scored an incredible free-kick goal from the left side of the box to take a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.
It wouldn't take long for the Eagles to equalize and take the lead, as the Raul Abellan Sanz scored two goals, one in the 39th minute and the other in the 40th, and put his team on top heading into halftime.
After just four short minutes of no scoring, Carvalho was able to knock in the game-tying goal off of a perfect thru ball by Kenneth Ramirez. The Lions would pick things up offensively after that goal, nearly taking the lead on multiple occasions. The Eagles would have their chances too, but nobody could put the ball in the net and earn the win.
Calum Langdale had six saves in the match, two in each regulation period and one in each overtime period.
The Lions will hit the road this weekend when they take on Missouri Baptist on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
