Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lions basketball team (9-4, 4-3 MSC) dropped their second straight game on Saturday, losing 80-76 to No. 7 Shawnee State (14-2, 10-1 MSC).
It was a close game from the start, and the Lions held a one-point lead with the first half nearly done before the Bears were able to knock down a shot as time expired to take their own one-point lead heading into the break.
Shawnee State came out strong to start the second half, leading by as many as 13 points in the final 20 minutes. The Lions, though, were able to go on an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to just two points with five minutes remaining in the contest.
The Bears would prove to be too tough down the stretch for the Lions, milking the clock and getting offensive rebounds in key moments to get the win.
Wanya King led the Lions in scoring, dropping his second-straight 20-point game while adding seven rebounds.
John Musselwhite finished the contest with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Ryley McClaran and Luka Filipvic each finished with 10 points.
The Lions will go on the road on Monday to take on Bethel in a makeup game. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
