Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lions soccer team (2-7, 2-6 MSC) fell 2-1 to No. 23 Bethel (7-0, 6-0 MSC) in double overtime on Friday, their fourth overtime game of the season.
After a scoreless first half in which both teams only had one shot on goal, the Wildcats were able to break the tie, scoring in the 57th minute.
The Lions continued to pressure the Bethel defense, earning a corner kick which was scored by Mauricio Jose Gonzalez, his first goal of the season, assisted by Jack O'Riordan, to force the overtime period.
The Lions were unable to get a shot off in extra time, while Bethel pounded the net, totaling four shots with three on target, including the game winner in the 107th minute.
Omer Shifris finished the game with four saves in the net.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they host Lincoln Christian at 3 p.m.
