Box Score MARIETTA, Ga. – The Lions soccer team (2-3, 2-2 MSC) defeated Life University (3-5, 2-4 MSC) in its third overtime game of the season.
The Lions went up 1-0 early on when Gabriel Carvahlo scored his first goal of the season in the eighth minute on the assists by Kenneth Ramirez and Alexandros Leondakis.
The Running Eagles would respond in the 28th minute to tie the game up at one, and that score would remain deadlocked, sending the Lions to their third overtime game of the season.
In the golden-goal period, neither team was able to find the back of the net, despite both teams having a couple of opportunities, which sent the game into the second overtime period.
Kenneth Ramirez received a pass sent over the top of the Life defense's heads from Jack O'Riordan on a free kick, and Ramirez buried the ball into the net on a chip shot over keeper Fabian Pekruhl's head to end the game, his second game-winning goal and fourth overall of the season.
Goalkeeper Calum Langdale recorded a career-high 11 saves in the win.
The Lions will head to Williamsburg, Kentucky, on Tuesday to take on the University of the Cumberlands. Game time is set for 7 p.m. central time.
