Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Lions soccer team (4-1) shut out Blue Mountain (2-2) 4-0 on Tuesday for the team's second consecutive win.
After about 24 minutes of scoreless action, the Lions broke the stalemate when Stefan Cekic scored in the 25th minute. Nearly seven minutes later, he scored his second goal of the game in back-to-back games in the 32nd minute on an assist from Mauricio Gonzalez.
With just less than two minutes to go before halftime, Trey Whidden scored his first career goal of the season, on the assist from Drew Caldwell, to give the Lions a 3-0 lead, which they would take to the break.
The game stayed at 3-0 for the first 27 minutes of the final period until Roger Castelltor scored in the 73rd minute, assisted by Jack O'Riordan, to make it 4-0, which the Lions would hold on to for the win.
Calum Langdale was credited with one save in the shut out win.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Georgetown College. Game time is set for 1 p.m. central time.
