BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The No. 6 seed Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions lined up against the No. 4 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) University Tigers in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational Tournament. The Lady Lions were on the losing end of 7-0 sweep.
In doubles action,
Morgan Brown and
Michelle Lancaster were able to steal a game to avoid a sweep, but ultimately lost to Angela Mendoza dn Clara Asprella 6-1. The other pairs did not fare as well with Elize Kruzan and
Hannah Pearce falling 6-0 to Miru Nonaka and Candela Converti.
Savannah Corbitt and
Kennley Kirk lost their doubles match 6-0.
The singles proved more competitive with
Michelle Lancaster taking a pair of games on the No. 1 court against Miru Nonaka. Nonaka was up 5-2 in the first set before Lancaster retired to give CU the singles point.
On the No. 2 court, Elize Kruzan came up empty against Arianda Perez, 6-0, 6-0.
Hannah Pearce put up a fight in the first set, forcing Angela Mendoza to require an extra game to win 7-5 before the Tiger claimed victory with a 6-0 second set.
Morgan Brown forced a fight on the No. 4 court by falling 6-4 to Clara Asprella in the first set, followed by a 6-1 loss.
Kennley Kirk forced Andrea Ovejero to need an extra game in the first set before dropping 7-5. Kirk would eventually drop the match after the second set was 6-2.
Savannah Corbitt rounded off the singles with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat.
