COLUMBIA, Ky. — Competing in their first Mid-South Conference match, the Freed-Hardeman Lions scored two goals late, but lost to the (RV) Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders 6-3.
After spotting the Blue Raiders a goal in the first 11 minutes, the Lions (7-2-2, 0-1-0 MSC) battled to send six shots toward the LWC net. After Lindsey Wilson added two more goals,
Thabo Mahlaha tallied his seventh goal of the season after being awarded a penalty kick. The initial attempt was unsuccessful, but the rebound was true to end the first half with the Lions trailing 3-1.
Lindsey Wilson (4-5-2, 1-1-0 MSC) picked up a goal three minutes into the second half before adding two more to take a 6-1 lead.
Avery Flener chipped away with a goal at 74:19 thanks to a solid pass from Brandon Carillo. Mahlaha added a second goal in the waning seconds, but time ran out on the 6-3 defeat.
Mahlaha ended the night with three shots, all of which were on the mark. Flener joined Vicente Geoergi and
Seabata Ts'emane with two shots each.
Eduardo Almansa recorded nine saves in the defeat.
