LEBANON, Tenn. — The 2024 campaign of Freed-Hardeman men's soccer ended in the quarterfinal round of the Mid-South Conference tournament with a 3-1 loss to the No. 15 Cumberland Phoenix.
As the No. 6 seed in the tournament, the Lions (11-6-2, 2-4-0 MSC)Â fell behind early with the third-seeded Phoenix netting a goal at 9:12. Cumberland added a second goal in the 27th minute to hold the Lions without a shot in the first half.
The Lions finally cracked the Cumberland (12-5-0, 3-3-0 MSC) defense with
Seabata Ts'emane sending off the first shot of the game for the maroon and white at 49:17. After
Eduardo Almansa recorded a pair of fantastic saves, Ts'emane found the back of the net at 71:28 for the seventh time in the season. The potential comeback was snuffed out in the 77th minute when Cumberland scored their third and final goal of the match.
Though in the history books, the 2024 season will be one to remember: the first team with a winning record since 2014Â and the second-most wins of any team in FHU after the 13-win 2013 and 2004 teams.
