LEBANON, Tenn. — Despite a strong showing in the doubles round, the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions fell on Thursday to the Phoenix of Cumberland (Tenn.) University 5-2.

Morgan Brown and Hannah Pearce took care of business on the No. 1 court by topping their Phoenix opponents 6-4. With the third court being a victory by default, the Lady Lions (2-7, 0-4 MC) won the doubles point.

Brown again had a solid first set on the No. 3 singles court, taking her Cumberland (3-12, 2-1 MSC) opponent to an extra game, but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-3. Shiloh Grisham won her singles match by default to finish the scoring with FHU falling 5-2.
