KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Though their competitive seasons have come to an end, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions and Lady Lions continue to add academic awards. FHU's spring sports had 56 student-athletes recognized as 2024 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.

According to the NAIA, to qualify a student-athlete must achieve "at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution."

For FHU, baseball and softball led the way with 12 and 11 selections each, respectively, followed by nine from the men's track and field team. The women's track and field program had seven selected, with both women's tennis and women's golf seeing five. Men's tennis had four chosen and men's golf had three.
