WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — The Lions of Freed-Hardeman University took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break, but the No. 6 University of the Cumberlands Patriots netted three second half goals to win 3-1.
After a majority of the first half was a 0-0 stalemate, the Lions (10-5-1, 1-4-0 MSC) struck first when
Dantae Mcdonald made the best contact off of
Tyler Burns' corner kick and found the back of the net for his second goal of the season at 36:06.
The Patriots (8-3-4, 5-0-0 MSC) knotted the match in the 57th minute off of a chopped shot. A class sliding shot came at 69:51 after a long pass and a cross gave the hosts the lead. A final goal in the 90th minute put the proverbial nail in the coffin for the Lions in the 3-1 final.
Tyler Burns,
Dantae Mcdonald, and
Paolo Sparks had the three shots on goal for FHU.
