BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — The Freed-Hardeman University Lions and the Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) University Toppers held a 90-minute war of attrition where the clubs finished with a 0-0 stalemate.
The Lions (7-0-1) had a pair of early shots that were off the mark until the hosting Toppers recorded the first of seven shots on goal in the 22nd minute. FHU had a furious attack in the 41st minute when
Tiro Nong and
David Kangni both registered shots on target with the BMCU keeper saving both. The Lions led in the shot column 7-3 in the opening half.
Blue Mountain (2-3-1) mounted a furious attack in the second period, nearly quadrupling their first half shot total by firing 11 shots toward
Eduardo Almansa's net. During the match the Toppers forced Almansa to act on seven shots on goal with the freshman keeping all of them out including four in the final eight minutes of the match.
