JONESBORO, Ark. — After a draw and a loss the Freed-Hardeman University Lions got back to their winning ways by shutting out the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Eagles 3-0.
The pressure was on the Lions (8-1-1) from the opening whistle with the hosts tallying nine shots in the half. But sometimes it's not the quantity that counts. That was proven when the pass from
Thabo Mahlaha turned into a goal from Dantae Macdonald. It was FHU's lone shot of the first half, but gave FHU the 1-0 lead at intermission.
The Williams Baptist (2-6-1) attack stayed fierce in the second half, sending nine shots
Eduardo Almansa's way. The FHU keeper kept out all four shots in the half and six in the match to secure the clean sheet.
Avery Flener tallied his team-best sixth goal of the season after a pass from Mcdonald at 61:00. Mahlaha's midfield play showed again in the 84th minute when his assist helped
Martin Theissen register the third FHU goal.
