KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — After beginning a week with four matches in five days with a loss, the Freed-Hardeman University Lions bounced back with a 4-3 victory over the Johnson (Tenn.) University Royals on Wednesday afternoon.
Freed-Hardeman (2-8) secured the doubles point as Morgan Brown and Suri Gomez picked up a 6-2 victory on the No. 1 court. Kennley Kirk and Elise Kruzan fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, but Anna Harder and Audrey Harder clinched the point with a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court as the Lions took the early advantage.
In singles play, Gomez earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory on the No. 1 court over her JU (6-6) opponent while Brown picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Kruzan fell 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 2 court and Anna Harder dropped her match 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4. Kirk was defeated 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 5 court before Audrey Harder secured the match for the Lions with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
