Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. -- The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team made quick work of visiting Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Monday night at Smith-Kirk Court.
It took just over an hour for FHU to sweep three games from the RedHawks (25-15, 25-12, 25-15) to improve to 15-0 on the season and 6-0 in conference play. Freed-Hardeman is now one win away from matching its record start from last season when the Lady Lions won their first 16 matches of the year.
The Lady Lions took the first game on the strength of a seven-point rally that turned an 8-7 lead into a 15-7 advantage from which the RedHawks could not recover. Freshman
Sydney Rice did much of the damage, recording five of her team-leading 10 kills in the first game.
Game two went much the same way, with FHU turning a 7-4 lead into a 19-8 lead before putting the game away 25-12. The Lady Lions' dominance continued in the third game as they jumped ahead early and went on to a 25-15 game win to complete the sweep.
FHU returns to action on Tuesday night in the Sports Center as it hosts Cumberland (Tenn.) University at 7:00 PM.
