Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Once again, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team dominated the TranSouth Conference's postseason awards taking home player of the year, coach of the year, and six all-conference player honors.
Todd Humphry was named TSAC Coach of the Year for the third consecutive time while
Diana Silva was named TSAC Player of the Year, giving that award to FHU for the third straight year as well.
Humphry led the Lady Lions to their third consecutive regular season conference title after going 12-2 in conference play. During the back-to-back-to-back championships, FHU has compiled a conference record of 42-4.
Silva, a freshman outside hitter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, led a balanced Lady Lion attack with an average of 4.0 kills per set and an attack percentage of .341. She was also second on the team in digs, averaging 2.8 per set.
Silva was one of three first-team all-conference selections for Freed-Hardeman along with middle hitters
Nataly Gutierrez and
Sydney Rice. Gutierrez averaged 3.4 kills per set and totaled 66 blocks. Rice averaged 3.0 kills per set and led the team with 108 blocks.
Amber Turner,
Karim Raymond, and
Callie West were all named to the second team.
FHU also had five conference scholar athletes: Raymond, Rice,
Emily Hicks,
Claire Pennington, and
Rachelle Prince. TranSouth Scholar Athletes are varsity players that are sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
