Pearson's career night leads Lions to fifth straight win

Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - Brian Pearson has spent almost five years in the basketball program at Freed-Hardeman.

Tonight, he made his first career start. And he made the most of it.

Filling in for the injured Ken Bingham, Pearson scored a career-high 26 points - 16 in the first half - as the Lions overcame an early deficit to post a 94-78 win over Victory (Tenn.) University on Friday night at the FHU Sports Center.

Eight of his points came near the end of the first half after the Lions had seen a 10-point lead evaporate and turn into an 11-point deficit thanks to a 22-1 run by the Eagles (6-6). His fourth 3-pointer of the first half brought FHU (7-3) back within three and finished off a 10-2 run that got the Lions back into the game.

Freed-Hardeman picked up where it left off in the second half, opening on a 14-2 run. From there, the Lions' lead never fell below six points the rest of the way. FHU outscored Victory 49-30 in the second half, shooting 58.3 percent in the final 20 minutes.

Kyle Teichmann posted his fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Cedric Austin and Vincent Barnes each added 11 points.

The Lions host Faulkner (Ala.) University tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
