Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions fell behind early and never recovered in an 11-6 loss to Huntingdon (Ind.) University on Thursday afternoon at Carnes Field.
After FHU starter
Hunter Newby retired the first five batters he face, the Foresters rallied to score four runs with two out in the second inning while taking advantage of a pair of Lion errors. They added three more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead before Freed-Hardeman (4-4) got on the board in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by
Brian Bullard.
Bullard came through again in the fifth inning, drilling a three-run homerun - his fourth of the season - to make the score 7-4. But Huntington responded with two more runs in the top of the sixth, again with two outs, to chase Newby and extend its lead to five runs.
The Lions got one back in the seventh on an RBI double by
Noslen Labrada, but Huntington again answered with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth and kept FHU from getting back into the game afterwards.
Bullard and Labrada each had two hits as did
Derek Bush and
Leamond Arthur with the top four hitters in the FHU lineup accounting for eight of the team's 10 hits.
