Box Score BELHAVEN, Miss. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions dropped their fourth straight game on Tuesday, losing to No. 12 Belhaven (Miss.) University, 15-3, at Carnes Field.
The Blazers blew the game open with seven runs in the top of the third inning, chasing Lion starter
Justin Stout, and added seven more in the fifth inning.
FHU took a 2-1 lead after two innings, getting a sacrifice fly in the first off the bat of
Evan Mansell and an RBI double in the second by
Robert Prieto. But Belhaven pounded seven hits in the third and scored six of its runs with two out in the inning.
The Lions got a run in the fourth on Prieto's second RBI of the game, but hopes of a comeback were dashed when the Blazers plated seven more runs in the fifth to take a 15-3 lead.
Prieto and
Joe Mike each had two hits for the Lions (4-8).
FHU returns to action on Wednesday hosting Lambuth (Tenn.) University at 3:00 PM.
