Robert Prieto was named both the TranSouth Conference and the NAIA National Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 17, 2011.
Prieto, a 5-foot-11 sophomore from Caracas, Venezuela, hit .818 (9-11) on the week. He helped the Lions to a three-game conference sweep over Blue Mountain (Miss.). He recorded two hits in the first game of the series, then closed out the series with 3-for-3 and 4-for-4 games. He added five runs, three doubles and drove in seven runs. He also drew one walk while slugging at a 1.091 clip.
Prieto is batting a team-leading .415 on the season with 17 doubles and 19 stolen bases.
