NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It's rare to see a player score more points in a week than he played minutes, but that is what Freed-Hardeman guard Orlando Bass did and it earned him his first-ever TranSouth Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor.
Bass, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Oakland, Tenn., scored 44 points in 30 minutes of action in No. 12 FHU's two wins during the week. His most impressive performance came in a 104-54 win over Crowley's Ridge (Ark.) College where he scored 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting in under 13 minutes of play. He followed with 21 points in 17 minutes of action in an 83-78 road win over Tougaloo (Miss.) College.
For the week, Bass averaged 22.0 points and shot 64 percent from the field and 57 percent from 3-point range.
