Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The No. 3 Lee (Tenn.) University Flames scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings, and it proved to be enough to edge the Freed-Hardeman Lions in the first of a two-game series on Monday night, 5-2.
The Lions got runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings, but could get no closer and the Flames (29-4-1) added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth.
FHU (21-10) had seven hits to 10 for Lee, four of which came from
Justin Mackey.
Jesse Hykes,
Ben Ihde and
Jake Todd each had one hit.
Charlie Overturf (2-3) took the loss after allowing four runs - three earned - in 6.1 innings of work.
Amos Bingham finished out the game, allowing an unearned run in the eighth.
The series concludes tomorrow with a nine-inning game beginning at 4:00 PM.
