HENDERSON, Tenn. - Renata Ferreira posted a rare triple-double as the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions won their sixth straight match with a four-set victory over Lyon (Ark.) College on Friday night.

The Scots took the first set, 25-23, after winning the last three points. FHU (15-8, 7-3) dominated set two, 25-14, to even the match and head into what proved to be the crucial third set.

That third set was a tightly-contested one that saw 10 lead changes that went late into the set before the Lady Lions pulled away at the end. Trailing 19-18, FHU got a kill from Amanda Cunningham and then benefitted from two Lyon attack errors to retake the lead for good. A kill by Ferrin Macon pulled the Scots within a point but Freed-Hardeman closed it out with points on four of the last five rallies, capped off by a Mikaela Powers left-handed kill.

A run of six straight points midway through the fourth set gave FHU enough momentum to carry through the rest of the match. Lyon took a 10-9 lead before the Lady Lions went on a tear with two kills from Daymari Brito and two from Ferreira along with a Hannah Claiborne service ace to build a 15-10 lead. The Scots took the next two points but would get no closer after FHU won the next three and closed out the match with a 25-19 set win.

Ferreira had 36 assists to go along with 10 kills and 12 digs for her first career triple-double. Brito led all attackers with 15 kills while Allie Moss and Kara England each had eight kills. Powers added seven kills and three blocks.

The Lady Lions play their final non-conference match of the season on Saturday, hosting Faulkner (Ala.) at 1:00 PM.
