Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions will look to win their third straight road game in the TranSouth Conference tournament and earn their first-ever conference title as they visit Life (Ga.) University on Tuesday night.
The Lions (14-18), whose roster changes this season have been well-documented, dropped both regular season contests to the Running Eagles by 11 points. In both losses, FHU struggled with turnovers giving the ball up a total of 56 times. FHU also had the lead with five minutes to play in both games.
Freed-Hardeman reached the title game after upsetting top-seeded Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Saturday, 60-53. The Lions won their opener on the road over Mid-Continent (Ky.), 88-77.
Senior guard Jonathan Milewski was able to return to the floor against Mid-Continent after missing 22 games with an injury to his foot. He hasn't been able to play his usual amount of minutes, but his presence has still made a difference during the tournament.
Life enters the game with a record of 17-13 but have played one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA. The Running Eagles finished second in the conference in the regular season. Guard Latraius Mosley has given the Lions fits in both games, scoring 18 in the first win and 21 in the second win. Greg Thomas also scored in double figures in both games.
Freed-Hardeman is 6-12 on the road this year while Life is 12-4 at home and have won four in a row in its gym.
The winner of the game will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament while the loser will likely see its season come to an end. FHU must win to make the tournament while Life could have an outside chance of earning an at-large bid.
