MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team opened the 2013 season with a pair of losses on Friday at the Faulkner Invitational, losing in straight sets to both Arizona Christian University and Spring Hill (Ala.) College.

All three sets against ACU were tightly contested, with FHU dropping them by two points each (25-23, 28-26, 25-23). Newcomer Daymari Brito led the attack with 15 kills, followed by Allie Moss with seven. Errors cost the Lady Lions in the opener as they committed a total of 37, including 12 reception errors.

Spring Hill, a usual fixture in the NAIA Top 25, handed FHU a 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 loss. Brito again led the attack with 11 kills while Kara England had nine kills.

Freed-Hardeman has a chance to even its record today with wins in matches against Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) and Faulkner (Ala.).
