VOLLEYBALL MATCHDAY: Bethel at FHU

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team plays its final non-conference match of the season on Thursday, hosting former TranSouth rival Bethel (Tenn.) University at 7:00 PM in the Brewer Sports Center.

SETTING THE STAGE
The Lady Lions (8-10) have lost three of their last four and look to bounce back the day before hosting No. 3 Park (Mo.). Bethel (11-9) will try to complete a season sweep of Freed-Hardeman.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The Lady Wildcats won close sets in the first and second and dominated the third in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16) win over FHU on Sept. 16 in McKenzie, Tenn. Eloisa Sales had 16 kills for Bethel while Rachel Woody had 11. Allie Moss led the attack for Freed-Hardeman with 14 kills.

NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS
- FHU will see the return of Allie Moss to the lineup tonight. She missed Tuesday's loss at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) due to a death in the family. Moss is among the NAIA leaders in kills per set (7th, 4.36) and total kills (43rd, 279).
- Bethel enters tonight's contest as winners of seven of its last 10 matches. Eloisa Sales has been hot lately, averaging 4.05 kills per set in her last five contests. She has seven double-doubles on the season.
- Winning the first set remains very important for FHU this season. The Lady Lions are 8-1 when they win the first set.
- Both teams are similar in that they like to attack from the outside. Sales (3.1 kills/set) primarily hits from the left side while Woody (3.1 kills/set) primarily hits from the right side. For FHU, Moss hits from both sides while Kiyla Glasper (2.2 kills/set) usually attacks from the left and Kara England (1.9 kills/set) hits from the right.
- Both teams have also posted similar service numbers. FHU has 116 aces on the year and a .866 service percentage while Bethel has 106 aces and a .864 service percentage. Sales leads Bethel with 24 aces; Michelle Bennett leads FHU with 38.
- Bethel has faced four other teams from the American Midwest Conference this season in addition to FHU. The Lady Wildcats are 0-4 in those matches with losses to traditional powers Park (Mo.), Columbia (Mo.) and Missouri Baptist.
