VOLLEYBALL MATCHDAY: Williams Baptist at FHU

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions look to win their third match in their last four contests tonight as they host Williams Baptist (Ark.) College at 7:00 PM.

SETTING THE STAGE
Both teams are among those fighting for position in the middle portion of the conference standings. The Eagles (11-9, 3-2) recently broke a four-match losing streak with a 3-1 win over Lyon (Ark.) in conference play. FHU split on a two-match road trip with a win over Benedictine-Springfield (Ill.) in four sets and a five-set loss to Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.). A win for the Eagles would keep them firmly in fifth place, while a win for FHU (7-8, 2-3) would jump the Lady Lions up a couple of places in the standings.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The Lady Lions took a five-set victory over WBC in Henderson on Oct. 15, dominating the final set to the tune of 15-5. Daymari Brito had 18 kills while Allie Moss added 11.

WHAT TO WATCH
- The Lady Lions usually have a tendency to play better at home, with a record of 32-8 in the Brewer Sports Center since the 2010 season. The home-floor advantage could make a huge difference in this match.
- The first set could also be indicative of the outcome of the match. FHU is 7-0 this season when it wins the first set, but 0-8 when it loses the first set.
- Allie Moss is coming off a huge week that saw her average 4.3 kills per set, 1.92 digs per set and hit at a .346 clip. She is definitely the team's go-to hitter, and another big match from the junior will put FHU in good position to win.
- The Eagles bring a very balanced attack into tonight's match, with six players averaging between 1.6 and 2.3 kills per set. Madison Laubach leads the team with 2.3 kills per set while hitting .241.
- WBC's Jameea Ward has been a force at the net with a total of 70 blocks this season. She has recorded multiple blocks in 15 of WBC's 20 matches, including five straight. She has posted four or more blocks on eight occasions.
- FHU freshman Kiyla Glasper saw more action last week and responded with 33 kills in three matches. She is continuing to getting set more often, and will need to provide a balance to Moss at the net.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Allie Moss ranks 8th in the NAIA in kills per set at 4.37.
- Michelle Bennett ranks 7th in the NAIA in aces per set at 0.65.
- Williams Baptist brings an edge into attack percentage into the match, hitting .193 to FHU's .160.
- The Eagles have been very good defensively at the net with 135.5 total blocks on the season.
