HENDERSON, Tenn. - Freed-Hardeman senior Hayley Newby took her first American Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the 2014-15 and her fifth overall after leading the No. 2 Lady Lions to a pair of wins during the week.

Newby, a 6-foot forward from Knoxville, Tenn., posted two double-doubles that included a 26-point, 21-rebound performance against NAIA D-II No. 11 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Friday. The 21 rebounds were a new career high for Newby as she recorded the team's second 20-20 game of the season.

The reigning American Midwest Conference Player of the Year also added 18 points and 15 rebounds in 20 minutes of action in a Thursday win over Voorhees (S.C.).

Newby averaged 22.0 points, 18.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals for the week. Her two double-doubles brought her total to three for the season and 31 for her career.
