SETTING THE STAGE
No. 1 Freed-Hardeman (10-1, 5-0) won its 10th straight with a 91-58 victory at (RV) William Woods on Tuesday. Missouri Baptist (1-7, 1-3) has struggled early after the graduation of last year's leading scorer Kristyne Smyth, and will attempt to snap a four-game skid.

LAST TIME THEY MET
FHU jumped ahead early and kept the pressure on, rolling to an 86-55 win over the Spartans in the conference tournament quarterfinals on March 5, 2014. Hayley Newby scored a game-high 22 points in the victory.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Last season marked the first-ever meetings between the programs. FHU won both regular season games handily (78-58, 83-52) and then eliminated the Spartans in the conference tournament.

BALL CONTROL
The Lady Lions have taken great care of the basketball in their last two games, turning it over just 13 times in wins over Columbia (Mo.) and William Woods (Mo.). The team's six turnovers against William Woods on Tuesday matched the season-low.

DOMINANT NIGHT
Grace Alonso de Armino put together the best overall night of her career on Tuesday against William Woods. The senior from Bilabo, Spain, had 25 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, six steals and two blocks. The 25 points tied her career high which she first set at William Woods last season.

FIGURING IT OUT
FHU struggled a bit early in the season offensively as a few new players worked on getting acclimated to the returning players. As the season has progressed, the offense has begun to work more efficiently. Over FHU's last five, the team is averaging 88.2 points per game. It's helped raise the season scoring average to 82.0 points per game, which ranks seventh in the NAIA.

CHASING 1000
Grace Alonso de Armino and Hayley Newby continue their climb to 1000 career rebounds. Alonso de Armino sits at 922 for her career entering tonight's game while Newby is close behind with 868. Only four players in the history of the program have recorded 1000 career rebounds.

NEWBY NOW 12TH
With her 23-point effort on Tuesday, Hayley Newby moved into 12th place on the Lady Lion career scoring like with 1477 points. She passed Michelle Ellis, who played at Freed-Hardeman from 1985-89.

20-PLUS PERFORMANCES
Hayley Newby has scored over 20 points in FHU's last three games, averaging 27.0 points during the stretch while shooting 69.8 percent (30-for43) from the field. She has scored 20 or more points five times this season and 23 times in her career.

CROWELL PICKING IT UP
After a slow start to the season, junior guard Kenley Crowell has been picking her play up as of late. Crowell is averaging 11.4 points per game over her last five, shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from 3-point range. She is also a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

PICK YOUR POISON
If opposing teams have to foul FHU late in a game to stop the clock, they will have a hard time choosing who to send to the line. Five Lady Lions shoot 78 percent or better from the free throw line, led by Paige Melville at 82.6 percent. As a team, FHU is the fourth-best in the NAIA shooting 74.9 percent collectively.

OVERCOMING OFF SHOOTING
Despite the high number of points that the Lady Lions have posted this season, they have continued to struggle from 3-point range. On Tuesday, FHU was 1-of-11 from behind the arc in the first half but still led by 11. Through 11 games, Freed-Hardeman is making just 30.8 percent of its 3-point attempts. However, strong offensive rebounding has helped create extended possessions off of many of those misses.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Missouri Baptist comes into the game with a record of 1-7, but that might be a bit deceptive as the Spartans have suffered several narrow losses. Four of their seven losses have come by six or fewer points. They are a quality shooting squad, ranking 20th in the NAIA in field goal percentage (43.6 percent). They also rank 10th in 3-point percentage (37.1) although they are picky about the shots they take, averaging only 7.8 3-point attempts per game. They have struggled on the boards with a rebound margin of -5.4, which could set up the Lady Lions for a big night on the boards.

KLINGELHOEFER STEPS UP
With the graduation of Kristyne Smyth, who averaged 14.9 points per game last season, junior guard Taylor Klingelhoefer has stepped up to fill her shoes. The 5-foot-8 native of O'Fallon, Ill., averages 14.9 points per game so far this season and is nearly automatic from the line where she has made 37-of-39 attempts.
