VOLLEYBALL MATCH PREVIEW: Lady Lions at Bethel

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Lady Lion volleyball team will look to continue their momentum following a win last week as they travel to McKenzie, Tenn. tonight to face Bethel University for the second time this season.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Lady Lions (13-8, 3-3) are coming into Tuesday's match off a win on Saturday over Oakwood (Ala.) College in Huntsville, Ala. The Lady Lions defeated Oakwood in straight sets (25-9, 25-11, 25-15) to pick up their thirteenth win of the season.

Bethel (Tenn.) University (16-7, 8-2 SSAC) is coming into Tuesday's match off a straight-sets win over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Thursday night (25-13, 25-21, 25-13). Wildcat middle blocker Eloisa Sales led Bethel offensively in the match with a double-double,14 kills and 13 digs performance. Daisy Liljenquist also contributed on the offensive end with 11 kills while Rebecca Jobst countered the Redhawk attack with 17 digs.

LAST TIME THEY MET

FHU hosted Bethel earlier in the season on September 15, where the Lady Lions were defeated in straight sets (25-17, 23-17, 25-23).

Bethel amassed 33 kills in the match and were led in scoring by Daisy Liljenquist, who had 11 kills on 19 attempts. Kaylee Ginnings dished out 17 assists followed closely by Maddie Morris with 16. Rebecca Jobst had 13 defensive digs in the match.

Kiyla Glasper led FHU's attack with 12 kills. Michelle Bennett had six digs and Sara Denton dished out 14 assists in the loss. FHU hit just .023 percent for the match.

The Lady Lions will look to have a better result tonight at 7:00 PM as they face Bethel for the second time this season. The Lady Lions would move to 14-8 on the season with a win tonight.

WHO TO WATCH

Daymari Brito (Jr., 6-1; Yaracui, Venezuela)

Daymari Brito did not play in the match up against Bethel earlier in the year as she was recovering from an injury suffered at the beginning of the season. She will be counted on tonight to help pace the Lady Lions attack as they face a tough challenge on the road. Brito is coming off one of her best matches of the season last week against Martin Methodist, where she shot 33 percent in the match and had 17 kills on 39 attempts. Brito established herself as one of the best players in the AMC in 2013 as a first-team all-conference selection, averaging 3.88 kills and 2.17 digs per set. Brito, along with the Lady Lions front line will be counted on tonight to pick up a much needed road victory.
