BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lady Lion volleyball team suffered their tenth loss of the season Thursday night as they were defeated in straight sets by Lyon College in Batesville, Ark.
Lyon College (15-13, 5-4) out-hit FHU (13-10, 3-4) in the match exceeding 40 kills on their way to a win in straight sets over the Lady Lions (25-23, 25-21, 25-23). With the win, the Scots not only picked up a conference victory, they also took over sole possession of sixth place in the conference standings. Prior to Thursday's match up, the Lady Lions stood at 3-3 in conference play while the Scots were close by with a conference record of 4-4.
The Scots were led in scoring by Michayla Shanks, who had 11 kills on 21 attempts and hit 47 percent for the match. Shanks also contributed four service aces for the Scots in the win. Setter Emily Sprick dished out an impressive 32 assists in the match while Madisson Williams countered FHU's attack with 13 digs.
Kiyla Glasper paced FHU's attack with 10 kills. Setter Emily Humphry had 16 assists in the match while Michelle Bennett contributed on the defensive end with 10 digs. The Lady Lions hit just 22 percent for the match.
With the loss, FHu falls to 13-10 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.
NEXT UP: The Lady Lions will continue their road schedule on Friday with a 6:00 PM match up at Williams Baptist (Ark.) College in Walnut Ridge, Ark as they look to pick up a much needed conference victory to even up their record at 4-4. Williams Baptist sits just above FHU in the conference standings with a 5-4 record in conference play.
