HENDERSON, Tenn. - Six players scored in double-figures and the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions scored a season-high in a 119-32 win over Stephens (Mo.) College on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

After Stephens scored the first basket of the game on a layup by Alex Hoffman, Freed-Hardeman went on a 21-0 run and followed that with a 21-2 run near the end of the half taking a 65-18 lead into the break. The Stars struggled against FHU's pressure defense, turning the ball over 25 times in the half which lead to 38 Lady Lion points.

The second half was more of the same as Freed-Hardeman (27-1, 22-0) opened on a 10-0 run and continued to add to its lead while all 12 players dressed out were able to log at least 11 minutes of action.

Hayley Newby and Paige Melville both had big performances on senior day. Newby had 19 points, eight rebounds and five steals while Melville had 18 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals. The team's third senior, Grace Alonso de Armino, was sidelined with an injury and did not play.

Brandee Busenlehner also had 18, tying her career high, while Kenley Crowell had 13. Tiffany Pate added 11 off the bench while Kim Mallory scored all 10 of her points in the second half.

NEWS AND NOTES: Alonso de Armino's injury does not appear to be serious, and the hope is to have her back for next Saturday's game...Newby now needs just 10 more rebounds to reach 1000 for her career...Busenlehner has made 66 3-pointers on the season after draining four today. It's currently the 19th-most in a season in Lady Lion history and she is rapidly climbing the list...FHU forced season-high 42 turnovers and scored 60 points off of those turnovers. The Lady Lions only turned it over six times.

UP NEXT: FHU plays its final home game of the regular season on Monday, hosting Williams Baptist (Ark.) College at 5:30 PM in a game rescheduled from last Tuesday dur to weather.
