HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Lady Lion volleyball team will look to pick up a much needed conference win as they face Central Baptist (Ark.) College tonight at 6:00 PM at the A.R.Reddin Fieldhouse in Conway, Ark.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Lady Lions ( 7-5, 1-1) are coming off a loss to Missouri Baptist (Mo.) University in straight sets on Saturday. The Spartans outshot FHU in the match amassing 40 kills on their way to a win in straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-17).
Missouri Baptist was led in scoring by Mallory Dillon, who had 12 kills on 17 attempts to go along with four service aces in the match. Setter Ally Krus dished out an impressive 25 assists while Haley Pouliezos contributed on the defensive end with 14 digs.
Allie Moss led FHU's attack with 5 kills. Setter Emily Humphry had 12 assists in the match while Michelle Bennett contributed on the defensive end with 10 digs. The Lady Lions hit .031 percent for the match.
Central Baptist (5-15, 0-3) is coming off a 3-0 blowout loss to No. 19 Park (Mo.) University on Monday night (25-5, 25-16, 25-7). Park University was led in total offense by middle blocker Paloma da Silva, who had 15 kills on 19 attempts.
Gloria Bell led the attack for the Mustangs with five kills on 12 attempts. Setters Kelsey Webb and Rebecca Lowe each dished out six assists in the loss.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Thursday's match will be the first meeting between FHU and Central Baptist, as the Mustangs make their debut this season in the American Midwest Conference.
WHO TO WATCH
Senior Allie Moss has led the attack for the Lady Lions in nearly every match of the season in 2015. She has exceeded 14 or more kills in six of the 12 matches FHU has played this season. She has compiled a total of 158 kills and has an attack percentage of 33 percent. Her season-high 24 kills came at the Faulkner Invitational in the win against Faulkner (Ala.) University, Moss has continued to put up impressive numbers on the attack and leads FHU in kills, averaging 3.43 kills per set.
