HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 13 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team returns home tonight following a three game road schedule as they face St. Louis College of Pharmacy in a 5:30 PM matchup at the Brewer Sports Center.
SETTING THE STAGE
FHU (11-5, 7-3 AMC) enters tonight's matchup coming off a 60-45 win over William Woods (Mo.) University (12-4, 7-3 AMC) on Saturday. Taleeah Cross led all scorers in the matchup with a double-double performance, which included 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kim Mallory and Kenley Crowell followed close behind, each with 13 points and three assists while Erika Zurauskaite dominated the glass and pulled down 13 rebounds in the contest.
FHU shot 39.3 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from behind the arc in the matchup compared to William Woods, who shot 36.9 percent from the field and 31 percent from three-point range.
The Lady Lions would jump out to an early lead in the matchup as the Lady Owls had trouble stopping the driving ability of Taleeah Cross, which allowed FHU to take a 35-27 lead into the half.
FHU saw their eight point lead shrink to two as the Lady Owls would put together another 6-0 scoring run at the 39-37 mark with 4:03 remaining in the third quarter.
Although the Lady Lions struggled to score in the third quarter, they more than made up for it in the fourth as they out-shot William Woods 18-6 on their way to a 60-45 victory. Brandee Busenlehner led the Lady Lions in the fourth quarter as she scored five of her eight points in the final quarter of play.
SCOUTING THE EUTECTICS
St. Louis College of Pharmacy (1-10, 0-10 AMC) enters today's matchup coming off a 66-54 loss to Stephens (Mo.) College on Saturday, December 19 to suffer their tenth loss of the season. The only win for the Eutectics came on November 7, 2015 in a non-conference matchup against Manhattan Christian College.
The Eutectics are led by Senior Emi Santhuff, who averages 14.64 points per game and has shot 36.2 percent from the field so far this season. Lauren Roethemeyer has led the Eutectics on the glass as she has averaged 7 rebounds per game while Morgan Rose had led the team in assists as she dishes out an average of 2.73 assists per game.
As a team, St. Louis College of Pharmacy averages 50.1 points per game and has shot 31.4 percent from the field and 29.8 percent from behind the arc. The Eutectics average 30.7 rebounds per game, led by Roethemeyer.
Thursday marks the third meeting between FHU and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The last time the two schools met was last season on January 24, where the Lady Lions came away with a convincing 101-29 victory at the Brewer Sports Center.
