ST. LOUIS, Mo. - – The 2016-17 American Midwest Conference (AMC) season is underway, and as the Holiday Break approaches, the AMC Game of the Week program continues to feature one men's and one women's basketball game each week. Today, the men's Game of the Week will feature a Top-25 showdown in Henderson, Tenn. as the No. 12 Park University Pirates (6-1, 3-0 AMC) battle No. 24 Freed-Hardeman (7-3, 3-0 AMC) for sole possession of second place in the American Midwest Conference.

WHO

Park Pirates
It is a tremendously difficult task for a team to replace its leading scorer for any significant length of time, and that is what the Pirates have been able to do successfully so far this season. Due to issues beyond his control, Park senior Xavielle Brown – co-player of the Year in the AMC last season – had to sit out the Pirates first six games. He returned to the lineup for the Pirates on Thursday evening at Williams Baptist College, and in his first action of the season, Brown's impact was felt immediately as he scored 21 points to help lead the Pirates past the Eagles 85-68.

Freed-Hardeman Lions
The Lions shared the AMC title a year ago, but they lost three of their five starters. The early season, however, has been a showcase for the emergence of Grant Teichmann. The younger brother of a former Lions' star and AMC Player of the Year, Teichmann has more than doubled his average output from a year ago, pouring in 13 points per game to lead the Lions offensively.

WHAT

Since Freed-Hardeman joined the AMC for the 2013-14 season, the Lions and Pirates have met eight times, and Freed-Hardeman has won all eight.
